The Rules of Life, the Internet and Motherhood:

1. Thou shalt not give parenting advice unless you have children. That goes for doctors, psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, etc. Advice is not the same thing as quoting statistics or medical fact.

2. Thou shalt not have children until you are self-sufficient. That means, if you're 13 or 33, don't have kids until you have a steady income that you (or your husband) earn(s), a roof over your head that you pay for, a mode of transportation that you don't have to borrow and that you can afford, and the ability to put yourself and your social life after your child's safety and well being. It doesn't count as you raising your child if mommy and daddy do it for you.

3. Thou shalt raise thine own children. If you have nannies or babysitters for your kids (that includes family) more often than you're home with your kids, then you have the titles all wrong. You are the babysitter and they are the parent. Anyone can be a biological mother or father, it takes someone truly great and selfless to be a mommy or a daddy. Notice I didn't specify during waking hours only. **ETA This isn't a dig at the hardworking single moms that juggle work in one hand and kids in the other. My mom was one of those moms and I've seen firsthand just how hard of a sacrifice this is to make. This is a dig at those "moms" that work 40 hours, then go out and party like its 1999 every freaking night. Then they come home and say "babysitters don't raise my kids, I do... but my mom/ grandma/ aunt watches them for me so i can go out sometimes". Yeah, sometimes is what we all deserve, but getting shitfaced every night and having to come onto BG and post "kin u help me figur out who my new babii dadiiz gun be? i slept wif 5 guyz dis munf and i wanna now whos da dadii ov my babiis lil bro or sista" THAT ain't kosher. Be home with your kids every moment you can.

4. Thou shalt be smarter than your child. If you type like a retard and fight like a 2 year old, you should not procreate. That means, if you TyPe LiKe DiS, liike diis, 1ik3 dis, double any character that should not be doubled (such as &&) or use 0's instead of Os and visa versa, you are indeed an idiot. Saying "you dont know me", "why don't you go feed your kids", "i wont be on BG as much when i have my kid", "proud 14 year old mom" or anything of the like further solidifies your idiot status.

5. Thou shalt act like a mother. No, you don't lose yourself once you become a mom, but if you're going to post pix of your cooter, tits, sexy pix with your kid in the background or yourself humping anything, you are a whore.

6. The internet is for everyone. Anyone can read your posts, anyone can see your pix, and anyone is free to call you a dumbass if they feel like it. Dont bother saying "if yous gunna start drama dont read dis" then you're even worse than a dumbass. You're a delusional dumbass.

7. The golden rule. Treat others how you want to be treated. Everyone judges people, it's just a matter of what you do with those judgments. If you want people to give you a fighting chance, don't be so quick to condemn others for what they believe or choose to do. The only person you're responsible for is yourself. Fear and ignorance control you far easier than understanding! Being friends with someone with different values doesn't mean you support those values, it means you're a big enough person to accept people for who they are on the inside. Equality for all!
8. Facts are Facts. Get over it. Yes, breast is best. Yes, natural unmedicated vaginal birth is safer. No, most teenagers are not able to raise a child on their own. Yes, abortion does stop a beating heart. Yes, smoking and drinking during pregnancy is bad. No, marijuana has not been proven to adversely affect pregnancy or breastfeeding babies. says who? says science. Nobody gives a rats ass what you do as a mother, so long as you put your child's health and safety first. Some people can't breastfeed. Some people can't handle the pain of childbirth. Some people smoke marijuana for health. There are always good reasons why people choose to do what they do. But remember, can't and won't are two different things-- as are reasons and excuses.
