Hello,
I just saw your post. I wanted to let you know that even as scary as a gastroschisis diagnosis can be, it is possible to have a good outcome. My daughter is 8 months old, and only deals with things that can be considered "minor".
I did see that someone posted on your thread about Avery's Angels Gastroschisis Foundation. I am the parent support coordinator for the NPO. The facebook page is a place for group support, but we also have parents who volunteer for us as veteran parent supporters. These parents can offer one on one support, and our goal is to pair you with a parent who can relate closely to you. If you go to www.averysangels.org, you can check out what we are all about, and find links for our other resources, such as facebook. You can also email me directly at tiffanygoldader.or@averysangels.org. I would be more than happy to answer any questions you may have, and get you registered for our one on one support.
Just know that you aren't alone. My personal advice to you is to not go wild on the internet, it can make you more scared than what you need to be. If you do decide to search on the internet, make sure you are looking into legitimate sources. Not everyone experiences the same thing with gastroschisis, and people with the worse-case scenario tend to post more than others who had minimal complications.
Hope all is well, and I look forward to hearing from you
