Finding out.
What day did you find out you were pregnant?:
February 16, 2012
How did you feel when you found out?:
So completely unbelievably EXCITED!
Who was with you?:
No one, my husband was at work.
How did the daddy react?:
I was decorating a mug for my husband that I finished and I made a little shadow box with the tests I took (I didn't wait long enough to notice the second line on the first test I took on the 14th) saying "mommy didn't notice me the first time" with the first test and "so I made it more obvious for her this time" with the second and I put an I <3 Daddy sticker on top. I txtd him while he was at work saying I had a surprise for him when he came home. So when he walked in the door he asked what his surprise was, so I said I finished his mug and showed it to him, then he said "oh and here I thought you were pregnant" to which I replied "Oh that too" and pulled the shadow box out of from behind my back. My husband then ran over and tripped over his backpack on his way to come hug and kiss me.
About the pregnancy.
When is your due date?:
October 20, 2012
How far along are you right now?:
35 weeks
Have you had an ultra sound?:
Two
Have you heard the heartbeat?:
Yes, at every appointment
Sex of the baby.
What do you want.
Boy or Girl?:
I wanted a boy, my husband wanted a girl.
Do you know what you are having now?:
We're having a boy!
Are you happy with what you are having?:
I'm ecstatic and so is Daddy. Even though he wanted a little girl at first he can't get enough of talking to his little boy and feeling him kick.
About the birth.
Who is going to be with you?:
My husband, my mother in law, my aunt, hopefully my mother (she lives in NorCal and we're in SoCal so it may be hard to get there in time if I have a quick labor)
Are you going to video tape it?:
No thank you! I'm fine with a billion pictures of my baby as soon as he's born, but I don't want to see the process and most of my friends and family don't either. The only one who might want to is my husband and since he'll be there there's no reason for him to film it.
Natural or medicated?:
I plan on getting an epidural, there's a reason for modern medicine, so I'm not going to just ignore it.
Do you think you will have a c-section?:
I really hope not.
Do you think you will cry when you first hold your baby?:
Of course, with the crazy rush of hormones and finally seeing my little boy I'm sure both my husband and I will be crying!
Do you know what you will say to the baby when you first hold it?:
No idea, probably "you're here, you're finally here" or "he's perfect" or some other cliche.
Are you scared about the labor?:
I've prepared myself enough, the only thing I'm scared of is having to have an emergency C-Section. My mom had to have one with me, but ideally I wouldn't have to.
Names.
Do you have a name picked out?:
Charles Paton but we're going to call him Charlie. Before we knew what we were having if we were having a girl we would've also called her Charlie but it would've been for Charlotte Elyse.
Is your baby going to be named after anyone?:
My maternal grandfather. He passed away when I was 13, but was the strongest male influence in my childhood since my parents were divorced and I wasn't very responsive to my step dad. His middle name is Daddy's name and also is traditionally the middle name of the first born male on his father's side so we've got a lot of tradition bundled up in this little one.
Did the daddy help pick the name?:
He knew I wanted Charlie for my first child before we were even pregnant, so he was able to choose the middle name, which conveniently enough is traditionally his name so he was a big part of the process, even though it was a fairly quick process.
Other random questions.
Have you felt the baby move?:
All the time, he is currently kicking me in the ribs.
What was your first symptom?:
I was exhausted early on, but I also had really bad morning sickness, sadly I had it through every trimester, and I'm usually the one to fight throwing up as much as possible... so that was really no fun.
Will you have godparents?:
My sister is going to be my son's godmother and one of our best friends is going to be my son's godfather.
What is the babys room theme?
We have a cute bedding set that has a giraffe, alligator, bee, turtle and caterpillar on it, so no real theme just having everything match our bedding set. (Daddy picked it out, and Mommy was very impressed so she's taken her crafting to the extreme to get all of his stuff ready)
Are you ready to be a mommy?:
I was SO ready to be... even though Charlie was a little unexpected I've known my whole life all I've ever wanted to do is be a mom so I am so excited to finally have my baby!
What do you think the baby will be a "daddys girl/boy" or a "mommys girl/boy"?:
I hope he'll be a mama's boy but he is so responsive to my husband's voice and touch while inside me that I have a feeling he'll be a daddy's boy.
Will Baby have any Sibilings: Not yet, but one day we'd like for him to have a little sister (or two) and a brother.
How old is the Baby's Sibilings: none yet.
Are you having a Baby Shower: Two! I just had my NorCal one with all the ladies I grew up with from my church, some of my friends who still live at home, and my aunts who live up North. I have my SoCal one with all my girlfriends, my in laws, and my aunt who lives down here (and I'm named after) next weekend. My mom is able to come to both so that's extra special since this is her first grandchild and I'm her oldest.
What is the Theme: No real theme, just little boy or Charlie themed I guess. We had little baseball cookies with Charlie on them in Giants colors for my NorCal shower, but we're just having it's a boy/ blue as the theme for the SoCal shower.

Breastfeeding Ribbons:
Rough Start-
I caught the stomach flu from my SIL when she came to visit us in the hospital (she didn't know the stomach flu would hit her house the next day) thankfully I was the only one who caught it in our little family but it meant I was dehydrated and not producing enough milk so we had to formula supplement from days 2-10 thankfully though my milk production started kicking in (especially once I got over the stomach bug) and we've been EBF ever since
6 weeks-
Six weeks old and we're still going strong! He loves snuggling up with mama and even falling asleep at the boob... and he tends to move his head til he uses my boob as a pillow (hilariously what his dad likes to do too) He loves taking my pumped milk from a bottle (especially when daddy feeds it to him (such a daddy's boy)) he's growing big and strong
he can already support his head unassisted for 10-15 mins at a time
3 months-
3 months strong! He's definitely getting more momentum to his sucking so sometimes it hurts a bit more... oh well... still totally worth it. Daddy's not too happy about the fact that Charlie doesn't like taking my milk from bottles anymore... he's ok with sippy cups... but only when I'm in the other room and when he's not upset... but I don't mind he's with me 24/7 and I love having more bonding time
He's getting even bigger and stronger... he loves rolling over now and interacting more with his toys.
