I am a single parent of 4 children ranging between the ages of 17 and 9. I attend an online program to receive certifications in medical billing and coding and will be finished in February of 2013. When I was out on maternity leave for my last 3 babies, I received state disability insurance or so I thought I did! This was from 1998 through my last baby in 2003. I now am researching this insurance for an assignment and it states that this is not covered in NY. I am wondering if anyone knows if this was covered back then and has stopped of if anyone can tell me if maybe I was covered by some other type of insurance. I am pretty sure it was disability insurance as it was not much income and had to wait about 4 weeks before receiving my first check, which was a lump sum of income from when I first went out on maternity leave.
