"Oh.. you're a nurse?? That's cool, I wanted to do that when I was a kid. What do you make?" "WHAT DO I MAKE?? I make holding your hand seem like the most important thing in the world when you're scared. I can make your child breathe when they stop. I can help your father survive a heart attack. I make myself get out of bed at 5 am to make sure your mother has the medicine she needs to live. I help you through your chemotherapy when your family is too scared. I tell your family it is important to share their thoughts when you are close to your last breath so they don't live with the guilt of not telling you how much they love you. I work all day to save the lives of strangers. Today, I might save your life. I make a difference, what do you make?"

I was diagnosed with Stage 2 Endometriosis at the age of 19. I had a laparoscopy to remove 2 baseball sized cysts from my ovaries, to free my ovary from the back of my uterus where it had fused, and to remove adhesions in the cul-de-sac. Nearly everyday is an uphill battle. Some days I am in so much pain that I do not want to get up, and other days I function normally. In November 2012 I had my second surgery and my endometriosis is now at a Stage 4.
