Hey Guys!!! My name is Krista and I'm married to a wounderful husband since July of 2006. We are originaly from Louisiana and we've decided to move here with family. Well... we found out on March 28th that we were pregnant and it was not planned. Weare extremly excited!!!! Within a week we had the names picked out. lol Then on on June 24th we found out that we are having a BOY!!! His name is going to be Xander Kaige Ford!! I just can't wait for him to be here in my arms.
I've been on bed rest since 25 weeks due to a fall that started my contractions. I went to the hospital and they put me on the monitor and the nurse came in to tell me that I've been having contractions every 2-5 minutes. She checked my cervix and I've dialated to one. Then I was given three shoots to stop them but itonly slowed them down so I was put on procardia and modified bedrest untill about 34 weeks.
At 31 and a half weeks my little man didn't want to wait any longer. I started to have painful contractions at about 10 pm- Sept. 18th. I called the doctor and she told me to wait it out till the moring. She suggested to take tylenol and put a heating pad on my stomach to ease the pain. Which I thought was weird. So I only took the tylenol but which it didn't help ofcourse. So I said to myself that the doctor is crazy and that I'm going to the ER. Right before we left a gush of blood came out. Then I freak out the whole way that the hospital.
As soon as the nurse settled me in the labor and delivery room. She checked my cervix and I was dialated to 6! My husband starts to call our family to tell them that Xander is going to be born. So a couple family members showed up to be with us. At about 9:45 am-September 19th I received my epideral. HEAVEN!! Except I did have one hot spot. The doctor comes later to check me and the baby's head was right there then she yells for the respiratory therapistto come and some nurses from the NICU. The doctor then breaks the water and there was maconium. Oh yeah, my two family members were stuck in the delivery room, they weren't allowed to leave whent hey saw the baby's head. I gave about 4 pushes and he came out. The baby was craying so my husband was able to cut the cord. Then they showed me Xander and I was crying because I was so happy that he can breathe on his own and he seemed to be too small for his gestational age. I was able to give him a kiss before they took him away to the NICU.
A couple of hours later I was sent down to the recovery room. Xanders doctor comes in to tell us that he's 2 pounds, 8 ounces and 14 inches longwhich is the size of a 28 week old and that he's able to breathe on his own but he does have to tube up to his nose with only air not oxygen just to remind him to breathe. The next day the tube came out since he was doing soo good. Also, the doctor told us that all his organs are matured of a 32 week old. I even got to hold him for about 20 minutes.
