alllast visit: 9 hrs agomember since: Apr 25th 2008about me:
Hey, my name is Erin and I've been married to my best friend since July 6, 2002. Together we have two beautiful children, William and Amira. I consider myself to be a very friendly, social person who probably talks too much and doesn't listen enough - so just tell me to shut up if you need to   . I'm fairly non-judgemental, that's not to say that I'm not very opinionated about right and wrong but I don't think that what a person says or does defines who they are. I'm also a CDing, EBFing, CIO kinda mom.

I absolutely adore being pregnant and I'm one of those people who doesn't get sick, uncomfortable, or moody (even my hubby says so!). Unfortunately my 3rd trimesters are riddled with complications, even so we're not ready to stop yet and will be working on #3 in October of 2010.

I found out I was pregnant with my son in June of 2006 and like I've already mentioned my pregnancy was pretty much perfect until my third trimester. At 29 wks I had a very stressful day (christmas tree fell over, drove through a blizzard, fought with hubby, etc.) The next day I got out of the tub and it felt like someone snapped my pelvis in half. I couldn't walk properly after that but just thought I had pulled something. Later that day I wondered if I was leaking so I saw my doctor and he told me to get to L&D now cuz I was starting to dilate. At the hospital they confirmed that I was in labour gave me the steroid shots for his lungs. After the exam I got upsuddenly started bleeding a river down the hallway. The nurses and doc said it was ok but we could tell by the looks on their faces that they were worried too. My ob said that in his opinion it was a previa but to confirm that we'd need a u/s but to get one on the weekend at christmas we'd have to call it an emergency. If we called it an emergency then he'd have to fly me to women's hospital 5 hours away. We decided to treat it like a previa until I could get an u/s 5 days later. Turned out it was a previa but it was marginal so it stood a chance of moving back - yay! After that I was on strict bedrest till 36wks (when my previa moved back   ) I wasn't allowed to be anywhere but bed, couldn't sit at more than a 45 degree angle, only get up to pee, shower every other day for 5 min max.) I realized he was serious when he told me that every hour counted. At 35wks I was in labour again but it stopped on it's own and it was concluded that I was one of the 3 percent of women for whom an irritable uterus leads to real dilating labour. At 39 wks my water was possibly leaking again so they started to induce me only to realize that my water was bulging so it couldn't be leaking and I got sent home again. Frusterated, I went to bed and woke up in denial but also in labour! At 6pm my water broke and after getting to the hospital and being check at 7pm at 1cm I dilated about 3cm every half hour. I started pushing at 8:30pm and he was born at 8:48pm 8lbs 3oz- my perfect little boy with the most amazing little cone head that you ever did see! (that's what you get for being engaged for 10wks)

6 wks after William stopped nursing I got pregnant again but had a m/c due to too much stress on my body. I had choked on a piece of chicken and had reduced oxygen for 6 hours, three people did the heimlech, 3 X-rays, endoscopy with heavy narcotics so that I could do it awake, and taking a prescription anti reflux med that shouldn't be taken while pregnant ( I didn't know I was at the time but I would have died so I couldn't have done it differently even if I did know)

2 mos later I found out I was pregnant with my daughter in April of 2008. Like before I had a wonderful pregnancy and then (with my hubby working in the next province) I thought I was leaking again at 32 wks. The tests were inconclusive to be safe they gave me the steroid shots again and kept me in hospital for 2 days. Almost at the end of the two days I started getting contractions 3 min apart and with each one her heart rate had trouble recovering so they sent me to a bigger hospital. All looked well so they sent me home on moderate bedrest. My 19 year old brother came to look after me - don't laugh - he doesn't know what the word dishes means but he took really good care of William for me! I totally freaked my brother out when I told him at 34 wks that he needed to take the day off of work cuz I was in labour. Sure enough I was dilating, I lost my plug in their portable toilet and was having contractions 3 min apart. The ob sent me to a bigger hospital by ambulance with lights and sirens, an ob nurse and delivery kit. Sure enough the contractions stopped on the way. I was felt like an idiot but at least my baby was safe. Again at 37wks I called my coach cuz I couldn't walk or talk through the contractions and when we got to the hospital they admitted me. Eventually I asked for the gas but after 3 contractions they just stopped cold turkey. Finally at 38 wks I woke up at midnight with a horrible flu, I begged God to not let me go into labour right then cuz I thought it might just kill me.....8am my water broke - not the flu I guess. After all day of hardly feeling any contractions and stalled at 3-4 cm they induced at 10:12 pm. She was born at 1 am but no one expected me to go to 10 so quickly so I had too much fentanol in my system and she was born not breathing and with fluid in her lungs. My ob had experience as a pedi and managed to get her breathing again. The same night that we took her home from the hospital she stopped breathing again and we were having a hard time getting her going for more than a few seconds at a time and so we called an ambulance. She was fine by the time they got there so they didn't give us a monitor at the hospital. At 4.5 mosI finally had the courage to stop using the angel care monitor as she'd been episode free for 3 mos.! She made me realize how off due dates can be. Although she was born a good weight, 7lbs 14 oz, she had several problems usually associated with preemies: apnea, extreme jaundice, reflux, trouble latching. I'll never again hope to have a baby before 39wks even if 37 is considered term!

O is still way high maintenance. He's still incredibly colicky and very unhappy. So its been rough around here, ya know?

I hope you are getting through some of your mess! We have been dwindling down the mess around our house. we moved when i was pregnant and I ended up on bed rest, so our basement looked like a hell hole! But we're getting through it
