I am a 23 year old mother to a son born at 24 weeks gestation just over a year ago. I had severe preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome and my son born via emergency c-section weighing 1lb 4 oz and 11.25 in long. He was in the NICU for 130 days. He had a bumpy road as do most but he is definitely a little fighter. He had PDA ( closed with meds), ROP ( had surgery on both eyes), BPD ( on vent for almost 3 months) , NEC ( treated medically no surgery), infections, anemia, hypobilirubin, and bilateral hernia repair. He came home on oxygen and an apnea monitor on Nov. 3rd. He is still on the O2 and monitor and will be getting glasses for nearsightedness soon. He is still a small fellow at one year check up weighed 12 lb 12 oz and 25 3/4 in long but we were thrilled. He has some sensory issues that affect his feeding so he receives and ST and OT weekly, as well as, PT to help with gross motor delays. He is defintely our little miracle and is the happiest baby ever you would never know that he has gone through so much already in his life.
