I'm 22 and just got married this past febuary to the man i've been dating since I was 16 and have been friends with since i was 12. He came home from over seas in april and now: Surprize!! I'm pregnant. ^.^ I'm happy and excited about it and can't wait for my first ultrasound.
My husband is 24 and we met in middle/high school. I was in middle school, him in high school I use to save him a seat on the bus in the afternoon. It was love at first site for me, and I had a HUGE crush on him for about 4 years. By the time I let him know I was his best friend and he was mine. We started dating not long after he had a major break up with a girl named Megan. I wasn't the cause and refused to be, though I didn't like the girl. (she cheated on him and was mean to him, poor guy) We started dating on December 12th 2003 and were a very happy lovey dovey couple. We never had fights. Kinda weird I know, but he was my best friend and I could talk to him about anything.
Anyways two and a half years later I moved away to go to college and we started having some issues. Which ended up in him not knowing what he wanted to do with the rest of his life or wether or not he even wanted to be with me or if he even loved me. But time apart showed us that, yes we could live without each other, and that no we really didn't want to live without the other.
So we got back together, just in time for me to have a minor medical procedure done to find out what was causing the pain in my bladder. Turned out to be cronic innersticial cystitus (pardon the spelling, aka inflamation of the bladder) and to find out that he would be spending a year overseas. That year passed slowly and I missed him like crazy, but i was thankful that I could see him often via webcam and talk to him through instant messengers as well.
We got married on his two weeks leave on febuary 3 and he came home this past April. We celebrated both of our birthdays this past June and I discovered I was pregnant on the 22nd of July. I thought my period was on it's way and it was due to start anytime. I had some cramps, gas, my breasts were tender, and I was really moody. But after our female roomate and my best female friend got her period and I did not, I decided to do a home pregnancy test (kept under the bathroom counter, just to make sure..). And Yes I was pregnant!
I had to do a second test to make sure. Then I left the house cause I was really upset cause I didn't know how to tell my husband. They all thought I was mad about something lol. But i drove over to my Ob-gyn's office and set up an appointment for later that week. Then I went home and talked to my nieghbor about how to tell Chris. And when I left her house and walked back over to mine, they were smoking out on the front porch and discussing what all we had to do that day. Laundry..dishes..blah blah blah. And I jumped in and said, "Before we do that I have something to say....." And I pulled out the two tests in my pocket and handed them to my husband. He was in shock and didn't say anything. My friend Lindsey just had her hands over her mouth saying 'oh my god' over and over. lol Finally Chris got up and hugged me and I started crying. And he smiled at me and everything was ok.
It wasn't a planned pregnancy, but we're both happy. We wanted children about 4 or 5 more years down the road.
Based off thefirst day of my last period, I'm no more than 6 and a half weekspregnant right now. But I think we concieved either on my husband's birthday, June 27th.Orthe night ofJuly 2. But that's just my guess. I'll find out more after my first ultrasound, which is on the 25th of this month.(Only a couple moreweeks! Yay!) ^.^
And I'm kinda tired of tying right now, so I'll add howwe told the grandparents and the rest of our families another day.
11-10-2008 I'm having a baby girl, the hamburger on the ultrasound said so lol. Her name will be Jules Morgan P. She was being camera shy, and has looong legs. lol. She measured 20 weeks and 4 days.I'm so happy. ^.^ And I can't wait for her to be here!

Labor story:
March 24th I had a doctor’s appointment to check and see if I had progressed any and to set a date for me to be induced by if the baby didn’t come on her own. When I got to the doctor’s I had +1 protien in my urine, my bp was low the first time they checked it and I was a pound lighter than my last weight. The doctor checked me and I had dilated from 1cm to 1 1/2cm in the last week and thinned from 50% to 70%. So she asked if I wanted my membranes stripped again and I said go ahead, cause I really wanted to go into labor on my own. After that we talked about inducing me. She didn’t want me to get past 41 weeks, so we set the induction date for April 2nd. She also wanted to check my blood pressure again to make sure it wasn’t high, well it was high that time, so she sent me to the hospital to be monitored and have the labs that test for pre-elcampsia done.
My labs came back fine, but the whole time I was hooked to the monitor I was having irregular contractions. They didn’t hurt and just felt like a tightening in the lower part of my belly and occasionally my back would ache some with them. The doctor checked me again before letting me go home, I’d dilated to 2cm and was 80% thinned. He asked me if I wanted to be induced that night and I told him that I’d like the chance to go into labor on my own.
So home I went. I continued to have continued to have contractions through out the night. They slowly got worse and worse. And honestly I couldn’t tell the difference between contractions and gas pain. It felt like really really severe gas. Lol But when I went to the bathroom, nothing came out. Though I peed almost every time I went in there, not much, but yeah. I didn’t get any sleep that night. The next morning I called the doctor and they told me to come in and get checked out. We got to the doctor’s office around 9:30 that morning and the doctor checked me. I had dilated to 5cm over night and thinned to 90%, so we were having a baby! Lol He sent me over to the hospital and I stayed in the triage room til like 1pm or so, They had 10 babies born on the 25th! O.O That’s a lot of babies. So I had to wait for a delivery room to be cleaned and become available. They checked me again about 12:30 that afternoon and ask if I wanted my water broken, I told them I’d like to wait til our family had made it to town in case it went quickly.
I got into my delivery room, my family got there. I had decide to get the epidural. It was the worse part of the entire labor process. It hurt sooo much, and to top it off I had a contraction while they were giving it to me. So it really hurt. It took the pain away from the contractions, but I could still feel them and I could feel and move from my waist down some. Part of my right hip and thigh were the only parts that I couldn’t feel at all.
After that the doctor came in and broke my water and I immediately dilated to 6cm. An hour later I hadn’t dilated anymore and wasn’t really having contractions, so they put me on pitocin and had me lay on my side with one leg up in the holder thingy. An hour later I had dilated to 7cm and she had me switch sides and lay on the other one. When we did that the baby’s heart rate dropped some so she put an oxygen mask on me, so the baby could get more oxygen. She said Jules had probably rolled over on her cord, but a minute later she rolled off of it and was fine.
At this point I was in the room by myself and finally managed to doze off and take a brief nap, I kept waking up with the contractions and kept having little urges to bear down. The nurse said that I could apply a little pressure, but not to really push hard. When she check at the hour mark again I had dilated to 9 1/2cm and the urge to bear down had gotten stronger and stronger. I sent out a mass text to my family members who had all left the pregnancy floor to go find food and told them all I was at 9 1/2cms. My poor hubby had just left the room to go get food and came racing back. He hadn’t eaten anything since before we had gotten to the doctor’s office that morning. Poor guy. My mom and step dad came in and seen me for about 30 seconds before my doctor walked in and said we were going to have a baby, so they had to leave.
Chris got there and the doctor put him in charge of holding my right let in the holdy thinger, cause it was the one that I could feel my thigh muscle or hip, so I had no control over it. My other leg I was fine with, but the nurse who had been checking me for hours was helping with it. They also turned off my epidural at this point, so it would slowly wear off so I could feel more of the contractions. Chris was great as a support person and encouraged me to push hard and more. He did such a good job, and it really did help having him there to talk me through each push. The doctor kept his fingers in me the whole time and did the perineal massage between each contraction. I pushed for 25 mins and she came all the way out in one final push. The doctor didn’t have to do an episiotomy. I had minor lasserations down there as well.
Jules didn’t even cry when she was born, but she did squirm and wiggle all over and had he eyes wide open. Big beautiful blue eyes. The doctor picked her up and showed her to Chris, then Chris cut her umbilical cord and the doctor put her on a blanket in my arms. I cried when she was there. I almost couldn’t believe it, like it was a dream. Then they took her to check her over in the warmer bed thing that was next to my bed. She was 7lbs, 4oz. and 19 inches long. Looking at her she’s all legs and arms though. Her little fingers are really long and from the moment she was born she liked to try and stick them in her mouth. It’s really cute. She was born with light brown hair that is more like peach fuzz all over her head and is thicker on the back of her head than the top. She does have a little scratch on top of her head from where she bumped up against my pelvic bone and a small spot where they had the internal monitor attached to her head. But besides that she’s absolutely perfect!
We’ve now been home a day now and she kept me up most of last night needing to nurse, be changed and burped. All the aches and pains of pregnancy and even labor were completely worth it to have her. And even having to stay up all night, sleeping only about 20 mins at a time til 4 this morning. It’s all worth it. It’s really amazing to finally hold her and have her in my arms.
