Makai is here! postedNo morning sickness!12th Feb '09
alllast visit: 9 min agomember since: Feb 12th 2009about me:

February 13th - 1st OB/GYN visit. Got to see the baby via ultrasound. My boyfriend made me laugh and immediately after the baby kicked his/her legs and moved their arms. Most amazing thing I have ever seen.

February 23rd- Random morning sickness and cramps!! I was up at 4 in the morning, in pain all day and threw up! I had not had morning sickness at all until that morning. Called the OB and they thought it was the flu, but felt perfect after some more rest

March 11th - 2nd OB visit. It was quick but I did get to hear the heart beat. My little one's at 160 BMP... The doctor said, "Congratulations, looks like you two are doing great." That just made me smile, knowing the baby's doing well and we're about to make it to the second trimester, thank goodness!!

May 6th- The big Ultrasound! I am having a little boy. It was amazing to see my little guy now that he actually looks like a little baby! He loved sucking his thumb and showing off his boy parts for us.

July 1st- Gestational diabetes testing, the drink they give you is awful! Scheduled my appointments for the remainder of the pregnancy, I will be seeing the doctor every two weeks now, I can't believe how fast this is all going! Makai is kicking like crazy, I've just started to be able to feel distinct parts of his little body, especially his feet when he stretches out. It is amazing, I cannot wait for him to be here!

September 15th- My little boy made his entrance into the world at 12:04 in the morning. He was 7lbs 6 ounces and 21 inches long! I was induced on the 14th after going to the OB for an appointment because I thought I mite be leaking amniotic fluid... although I was convinced it was just urine. They did a physical check and agreed that it was probably just urine, but when they looked under the microscope... surprise! We walked right over to labor and delivery and had my little guy about 12 hours later.

About Your Pregnancy
Is this your first pregnancy?: Yes

When did you find out you were pregnant?: The first or second week in January

Was it planned?: Our little secret, but yes it was. I stopped my BC pills and we were going to try just once.

What was your first reaction?: Well, it was going to be the last test I was going to take before we were sure I wasn't pregnant (only had negatives up to the point)... and the timing of my cycle was off so we didn't get pregnant exactly when we thought we did. I saw the two lines IMMEDIATELY and got all light headed and ran over to my SO who was still in bed and just smiled... "Baby, there's two lines.. I can see them already!"

Who was with you when you found out?: The Daddy

Who was the first person you told?: My best friend.

How did your parents react?: They were stressed at first and then super excited to be grandparents.

How far along are you?: 21 weeks (may 11th)

What was your first symptom?: I knew I was pregnant before the positive test. My breasts hurt, I was peeing more, more discharge down there than normal... all the classic signs.

What is your due date?: September 20th.

Do you know the sex of the baby?: Boy!

If so, what is it?: ^^

Have you picked out names?: Yes

If so, what are they?: Makai Kazuo

How much weight have you gained?: 14 pounds

Do you have stretch marks?: Nope

Have you felt the baby move?: All the time.

Have you heard the heartbeat?: Yes

About the birth

Will you keep the baby?: Yes

Home or hospital birth?: Hospital

Natural or medicated birth?: I don't think I want an epidural.. but if I'm in that much pain I'm not against anything that mite help that the doctors recommend.

Who will be in the delivery room with you? My SO... and he's being greedy, he wants it to just be us, but I know it is going to mean everything to my mom for her to be there.

Will you breastfeed?: I want to.

Do you think you'll need a c-section?: Not planning on it -fingers crossed-

Will you cry when you hold the baby for the first time?: Oh yes.

What's the first thing you might say to him/her?: I love you... or you're perfect... something along those lines.

Would you let someone videotape the birth?: I wouldn't feel comfortable.

Are you excited about the birth, or scared?: Both
