My husband Cody and I have been married since September 27th, 2008, after a 3.5 year long-distance relationship while I was gone for college. We never lived with each other until three months after the wedding (when I graduated), so it's been pretty interesting figuring that part out. Since he's a police officer, he works crazy shifts. Luckily, I work from home as a bookkeeper so I get to see him more often than I would if I worked in an office somewhere. I love being around him!

We've always talked about having kids 'one day' but I was always so 'wishy washy' on the subject. I have often doubted my potential abilities as a mother, and the whole birthing process makes me really squeamish. But in April of this year, I suddenly started feeling this 'longing' to want a baby and so we decided to start 'trying'.

On June 26th, 2009, I started having that intuition feeling like I was pregnant... along with peeing excessively and boobs hurting a lot, so I decided to take a test, and sure enough, got a BFP!

I can't wait to see the doctor and get the first appointment done... the anticipation is driving me crazy! Looks like this is gonna be a long ride..... but I'm very excited!

First appointment: July 24th, 2009. Appointment got canceled because Dr. had to go deliver a baby

Real First Appointment: July 27th, 2009. Got rescheduled with a doctor I didn't want to see. He measured me and said I felt around 6 or 7 weeks. They forgot to do lab work so I had to go back in later to get that done.

Second Appointment: August 27th, 2009 (With the doctor I actually did want to see) Firstly, I was soo happy to see I hadn't gained any weight, because I definitely feel like I've gained like 15 lbs since my last appointment.. even though I haven't. Secondly, they told my my blood pressure is a little too high for comfort, so I have to watch it and possibly get more labs drawn next week. Lastly, we got to hear the HEARTBEAT!! It was soo exciting!   There really is a baby in there!!

First Ultrasound: August 28th, 2009

Nurse Visit: August 31st, 2009

Third Appointment: October 9th, 2009. Doctor made us wait almost 2 hours before seeing me! ugh. BUT, we got another Ultrasound, and
YAY - It's a GIRL!       We're thinking Mikayla Renee for a name.

Fourth Appointment: October 30th, 2009. [New Doctor]

You might want to try online. I got my bed set from www.babysupermall.com and they have a ton of cool stuff. I'm looking forward to my showers to see what kinds of cute stuff we get. We're having three showers (my family, his family and my work). I keep seeing all of these cute clothes that I want to buy but I stop myself because I know we will get so much at the showers.

I feel him move but it seems like certain days I feel him more than others. I know it is too early to worry about it but I sometimes wish I felt him more just to reassure myself everything is OK.

Have you guys registered for any baby classes, etc yet? We registered for a birthing class even though I'm having a c-section - it still goes over what to do once the baby is born. I have three younger sisters but my husband does not have a lot of experience with babies like I do. I also registered for a breastfeeding class. We made an appointment with a pediatrician that was recommended by a co-worker of mine too. I keep trying to think of things we can do now to prepare before it gets crazy with the holidays!
