I am married to my husband of 13 years, together we have a 12 yr old daughter. We started trying for another baby when our daughter was 14 mo. old. After several years passed and endless negative pregnancy tests, I was diagnosed with PCOS. After a total of 7 yrs of trying to concieve. My husband and I decided we were going to cherish the one baby we had and that one was enough. In fact, we even bought a smaller house and downsized from our big one. After suffering from irregular periods my entire life, I noticed in early 2009 that they have somehow regulated. So much so, that I could count them out on the calandar and know exactly when I would expect the next. I have NEVER been able to do this!
I scheduled an appointment in April 2009 with my doctor for my annual exam and for them to check my ovaries by ultra sound, which they like to do every year with patients with PCOS, since fibroids are common. I was so excited to tell my doctor how my periods have regulated on their own, when before going there I realized my period was 2 weeks late.....I was so dissapointed because I had gone so long without missing one. My ultra sound came out perfect, she said my ovaries look really good, but she was concerned that my uterine lining was really thick. She said she was going to start narrowing down causes for that and gave me a pregnancy test. Knowing that wasn't why, since after being told for so many years it's not happening and probably won't. Taking that pregnancy test was just like anything else, i wasn't expecting anything other than a negative. And to be honest I wasn't prepared for anything other than a negative. So when the nurse came to me and said it was in fact negative, without thinking I said "thank god"! As I was leaving the office she came running after me an said "I don't know how to tell you this but the line just appeared on your pregnancy test....it's positive!
I had to sit down! The funny thing was I should have known!!! I had been complaining for the last week that my boobs hurt like crazy, my period was 2 weeks late and I was feeling yucky in the mornings. My due date was Dec. 5th, 2009
A month later at almost 9 weeks, I lost the baby and was totally devastated. The baby however, only measured at 6 weeks. Something I had waited so long to have was taken away from me faster than I had a chance to cherish.
It is now April of 11' and I just found out I am pregnant again. Took another 2 years, but it happened and I am very leary. I had an ultrasound at 5w 4d and saw the fetal pole. I went back on the 28th of April and saw a really strong heartbeat. and the baby actually measured 2 days bigger! My DR. put me on Prometrium, a progesterone suppliment until I am 12 weeks along. Hoping this alternate approach works!! My official Due date is 12/7/11
