I am 22 years old and the proud mother of a 2 year old miracle. My son was born 24 weeks and never given any hope. He developed NEC. a terrible infection in his intestines that later caused him to loose over 1/2 his small intestines. He is on a g-tube to eat because he never learned how from being on the ventilator and in the hospital for so long. We spent 8 1/2 months total in 2 different NICUs. We are very greatful for the doctors, nurses and surgens who were there to give us the chance to bring our baby home. He is now a happy, healthy 2 year old little man. The advice I have for all preemie moms is never give up. You may go through ups and downs but in pays off in the end.
