I'm 22 years old. I have a daughter, born September 23, 2009. I've been with her father since October of 2003, been married to him since July of 2009. Our love was a love at first sight. I first met him when I was in the 4th grade and had been crushing on him ever since. Our love is definitely a ghetto fairytale. I'm so happy to have him and my daughter in my life. Life is great and feels complete!
My labor story...
September 22, 2009 at around 4 am I started getting contractions! At first I wasn't sure until I felt it over and over again. They were about 5-10 minutes apart, and sometimes 3-5 minutes apart. It was really all over the place, but not steady enough for me to want to go in. DH went to work and told me to just call him if I was going to go to the hospital. I was handling them very well. They felt like bad menstrual cramps, which I've had before, making contractions so easy to bear. I had them all day long, but they were still bearable. Later that night friends came over and we had some dinner and were watching a movie. As the night progressed they were getting closer but still steady. No water breakage so I decided I'd rather just stay home unless it broke since they were coming harder, but I was still able to handle them. Well our guests left and DH & I went to sleep. Well DH went to sleep and I tried but couldn't because of the contractions. I walked around the house a little bit and was in the bathroom leaning over the sink swaying my hips. At 1am I just couldn't take it anymore and figured it was time to go to the hospital. I woke up DH and we called L&D. The nurse said to go ahead and take a shower then come on it. I guess I was in the shower for awhile because when I came out DH was all dressed and knocked out on the bed again. lol. Well We went to the hospital around 2 am and a nurse checked me out. I was 6 cm dilated. A midwife came in and said they were going to check me in and I was going into a delivery room. She asked if I was planning a natural birth or not. I told her I was hoping to go all natural, and she said I was handling contractions very well and I'm already 6 cm so she thought I could do it naturally. So DH and I are just sitting in the delivery room and I suddenly felt the urge to push! I buzzed the nurses station and the midwife came in. My water STILL hadn't broke. She said if she broke it, it could relieve the urge to push or it could speed things up, and asked if I wanted her to just break it. I said YES! lol. So she did, and boy did my baby girl start coming down fast! The urges to push came fast as well! I was fully dilated but my cervix was not completely thinned out! there was a tiny piece still there and they didn't want me to push, because they didn't want me to tear my cervix. That was the toughest hour of my life! Not being able to push. Well a nurse finally decided to try to massage my cervix during a contraction, and when she did it all went away and I was able to push all I wanted! I started pushing and she was out within an hour! At 7:03 am my beautiful Liana was here! She weighed 7lbs 2oz and was 19 inches long. She was perfect!
