I have a 3 year old son, and am pregnant with our second child   This time around we have a midwife, and are planning a home birth.. so any tips from experienced home birthers would be much appreciated! I am a WAHM, I make cloth diapers!

"I once heard breastmilk described as a baby's birthright, and for me, that is so true. What right do I have to ever deny my baby the very best I can possibly give her? Because the first few weeks are difficult? Most things worth doing are difficult. Giving birth is difficult. But when you're 40 weeks pregnant and lying in your hospital bed and being told to "PUSH!" there is no other option but to push. And that's how you have to look at breastfeeding. Look up the ingredients in formula. Research the benefits. Look up statistics. Don't give yourself any other option (unless it ends up being medically necessary, which is rare). It is, afterall, your baby's birthright.

Breastfeeding is right for everyone. But it's something you have to learn how to do. Read, read, read. Take a class. Talk with other breastfeeding mothers. Gather a support team. Contact a lactation consultant. Bookmark this thread.

You and your baby will figure out how to latch. There are creams to help with soreness. You won't dry up. Yes, breastfeeding is hard in the beginning, but ask any mum in this thread who stuck with it if they regret their decision and you will hear a resounding NO. If you decide to breastfeed, and you make it through those first few weeks, you will be sooooo happy that you did. It is such a special, wonderful thing!"
