Hello & welcome to my page! I'm assuming you're here to know about me & my little family? Well for starters, my name is Kimmy & I am 24 years old. I'm married to my best friend, his name is Grady & we have been together since October 19, 2010 & we've been married since February 1, 2011. We are the proud parents of a beautiful 5 month old precious little girl. She blessed this world with her presence on March 8, 2012 & has been an absolute miracle & joy since! Our daughter weighed a whopping 6 pounds 15.5 ounces & was 20 inches long! I delivered her via emergency c-section due to cardiac distress.

My daughter spent almost two months in the N.I.C.U. after her birth where she was diagnosed with:

Hydrocephalus - also known as "water in the brain," is a medical condition in which there is an abnormal accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in the ventricles, or cavities, of the brain. This may cause increased intracranial pressure inside the skull and progressive enlargement of the head, convulsion, tunnel vision, and mental disability. (Her's is after a hemorrhage in the brain or "brain bleed")
Peri-ventricular Leukomalacia - a form of white-matter brain injury, characterized by the necrosis (more often coagulation) of white matter near the lateral ventricles. It can affect newborns and (less commonly) fetuses; premature infants are at the greatest risk of the disorder. Affected individuals generally exhibit motor control problems or other developmental delays, and they often develop cerebral palsy or epilepsy later in life.

My precious girl has underwent two brain surgeries. One, to place a ventricular access device (VAD) in the right side of her head to drain blood & fluid. Her second one was to have the VAD removed & a permanent VP shunt placed. She also had a MIC-KEY button placement surgery. If you don't know what a MIC-KEY button is, it's kinda like a g-tube. Regardless, my husband & I are extremely blessed to have her. We wouldn't trade her for anything in the world!

ISAIAH'S STORY

Now on for one of the most painful times in my entire life. On May 4th 2010 I found out that I was pregnant for the first time. I was overcome with joy & was very excited to be expecting. You see, at that time I was 21 years old & had been trying to have a child since I was 18. In truth, I had dreamed of being a mommy since I was 13 years old.

So, as you could imagine, I was absolutely thrilled & tickled 3 shades of pink! My pregnancy appeared to be progressing normally & everything seemed fine until a routine appointment on August 5th, 2010. I was about 18-20 weeks pregnant. The doctor couldn't find my baby's heartbeat so she sent me to have an emergency ultrasound. I was a nervous wreck, I feared the worst yet, hoped for the best.

The tech came to get me & I was shaking the whole way to the room. Almost immediately, she noticed that my baby did not have a heartbeat. My heart seemed to stop beating, my life was shattered. My baby had died inside me. They admitted me into the hospital to induce labor. They asked me if I wanted to be able to hold my baby or if I wanted a D&C. I made the decision that I wanted to hold my child.

My mom sat with me the entire time, trying to be strong for me I could see she was just as heartbroken as I was. We cried together, we prayed together. Part of me hoped that they were wrong, that my baby was just fine, but I knew better. My son was born on August 6th, 2010. He weighed only 11.5 ounces and was 7 1/2 inches long. He was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen & I loved him instantly. I gave him the name Isaiah Matthew Lewis. He will forever be my angel baby. I love him to Heaven & back.

"Dear God,

I very much wanted to sit my precious son on my knee & tell him all about you & your unconditional, undying love but, since I can't sit him on my knee & tell him about you, will you please sit my baby boy on your knee & tell him all about me & my unconditional, undying love for him?

Blessed be the name of the Lord, Amen."
