My name is Kristine, 18, and a freshman in college on my way to receive an associates degree in psychology. I had my first child on Sunday, February 10th, 2008 at 9:30. She was 8 lbs. 8 oz. 20.5" via emergency c-section.
My adoption story:
I got pregnant at 17. Matt and I were only together a little over a year then, the pregnany was not planned and I thought it was too much for me to handle so I broke up with him. I researched getting an abortion but found out my insurance wouldn't cover my situation. After about a week I realized that he wasn't going to be a dead-beat dad and that this was just another step in the road. The day we told our parents we researched about open adoption and decided that that was the way we were going to go. I went to my first doctor’s appointment at 23 weeks and 4 days and that’s where I found out that the baby was a she and that she was healthy.
In a few weeks time we had a family picked out. Michael (a graphics designer who works at home) and Jenn (a marriage and family therapist). They couldn’t have kids because the doctor said that she had ‘old eggs’. They have now become part of our family and Matt and I are both very happy with our decision.
PM or comment me if you have any questions or concerns, I’ll be happy to answer them!
