Labor story

On Friday the 1st of July at 3:00am I started to have regular 5minutes apart contractions. We called the doctor and they told us too go in when we got there they hooked me up to the machines and they checked my cervix which was 1.5 centimeters and 90% effaced which it had been for the past week already. The nurse told me to walk around to try and get my cervix to progress. When she finally checked again I was still the same. I started bleeding and the doctor said it was my bloody show but they sent me home with medication so I could sleep because I was still having contractions. I bled and continued to have contractions that became irregular for Friday, Saturday and finally Sunday I called the doctor because I had no sleep since Thursday due to the contractions, I didn't know if I was supposed to be bleeding still and I was throwing up the entire day. He told me everything was fine that if I had any changes to call back. Finally after seeing me exhausted and in pain my boyfriend called the doctor and pretty much begged him to let me go in. We got to the hospital a little before 8pm and the nurse said she would check me and see if I was any further along but I would most likely be spending the night so they could put me on some medication to let me sleep. When she checked me she said "you're definitely not going anywhere you're 5cm" By 10pm the doctor came in and I asked him about an epidural and he said when your labor progresses we will give you one. Then he checked me and said "well you're 10cm and can push" I was so afraid because I knew it was too late for pain medication. He broke my water and with no energy from no sleep and vomiting all day I started to try and push. My son was born after 45 minutes of pushing at 11:13pm weighing 8lbs 1oz and I could not be happier. I am so proud of myself for actually being able to do it the way I did and even though I was afraid I'm glad everything happened that way. I keep laughing to myself because if my boyfriend didn't beg the doctor to let me go in my son would've been born at home because my contractions never became consistent. That goes to show you how unpredictable and different every labor is.
